Creativity Club

A monthly arts and crafts group, encouraging confidence and self-expression, suitable for both those who have a desire to rekindle artistic passions or try arts and crafts for the first time (and everyone in between!) These, like all our sessions are dementia-friendly but everyone is welcome. It is very important to book beforehand (via phone or email) as these sessions are very well-attended.

MOVING MEMORIES CAFE

These are dementia friendly sessions, designed especially for people living with dementia to come along with a family member, friend or carer and take part in arts, crafts, music activities and have a chat. Our aim is to make these sessions joyful and uplifting. Again, we have a limited capacity so you must book by registering your interest prior to the session.

GOOD VIBRATIONS

These sessions are dementia friendly but, again, everyone is welcome. Our good vibrations session tends to have the widest range of age groups and this often creates a wonderful intergenerational dynamic. Together, we explore the power of music and sound. Expect anything from African drumming workshops to silent discos. We now have our very own steel pan troupe, led by legendary pan maestro, Norman Stewart. Again, places must be booked in advance.

SENSORY STROLLS

These are dementia friendly outdoor sensory walks, where we spend time together exploring the beautiful green spaces that we have on our doorstep. Our sensory strolls are an ideal way to get active, meet new people and express the joy we feel when we’re interacting with nature.

MOVING MEMORIES CHOIR (SINGING FOR THE BRAIN)

In our Moving Memories Choir (in association with The Alzheimer’s Society’s Singing for the Brain) we sing a wide range of songs from different eras and genres in a fun and friendly environment. Singing has been shown to improve your brain activity, mood and wellbeing. Joining a choir is also a wonderful way to socialise and connect with others.

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY STIRCHLEY

From 2019 – 2021, Leaf Creative Arts successfully campaigned for the Stirchley ward to achieve recognised dementia friendly status. We continue to engage local businesses and organisations, providing them with information and support so that they can succeed in helping people living with dementia and their carers and loved ones feel welcome, seen and understood.  Our mission is to spread awareness and enable more organisations and neighbouring wards to be dementia friendly.

STIRCHLEY COME DANCING

A fun and fabulous project to get your hands clapping and your toes tapping. We invite dance instructors and other special guests to the session for ballroom and Latin taster sessions, as well as providing delicious cakes and tea to provide us with some much needed energy!
